Who I Am – My Work, My Values
|
I am the owner of my own business “Dee Garber Studio.” Also, owner of "M.O.N.E.Y. Making Organized Networking Empower You!" a local Hanover Area networking group for professionals. I currently hold memberships with numerous organizations, including the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce; the York Art Association, York, PA; the Adams County Arts Council, Gettysburg, PA; the Maryland Pastel Society, MD; the Old Forge Art Guild, Old Forge, NY; the Graphic Artist Guild, NY and its At-Large Chapter, Washington D.C. (Past president of Professional Referral Exchange, Hanover Chapter.) My artwork and photography have been shown in local, regional, and national exhibitions and solo shows. Many of my pastel paintings and photography are in private collections nationwide. Also, I write a column featuring the Arts and Nonprofits in the Hanover Area for ShowcaseNow Magazine (formerly ShowcasePa Magazine.) I have 25 years’ experience working in the Visual Arts field including Artistic Works by Hand, Photography, Darkroom Photography, Graphic Design, Custom Printing, and Custom Framing; I offer all these services to my clients. However, I believe the most important service I offer is customer service – the kind of customer service my clients deserve. I work one-on-one, in fact, with all my clients and I am never satisfied until they are 100% satisfied. I have high standards in creating the product and providing the service needed; and if it’s not good enough for me I would not expect a client to be happy. Over the years I have worked for other companies and contributed to many rewarding projects. I was glad to a part of these, but never enjoyed the sense of fulfillment I wanted. I was spending way too many valuable hours a day on the overly-crowded Maryland and Washington D.C. beltways, and I “wanted my life back.” I wanted to get back to the basics – to spend time on the creativity I loved: producing Pastels and creations in Acrylic, Pen and Ink, and Pencil. Also to create Graphic Designs and Photography without hindering my creative flair. In 2004, with the loving support of my husband; Gary and our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog; Coalbin, I decided to pursue my dream of operating a full-time art studio that would enable me to work on many special projects relating to the dog world and other special subjects. I started my own business, "Dee Garber Studio." Today, I can truly say I am enjoying the good life, traveling to call on clients within a 60-mile radius of Hanover. I know how valuable their time is and I make it as easy as possible to give them what they need and deserve. I also offer my services outside of the area, sometimes by phone, Internet, and mail. I offer Custom Graphic Designs, not cookie cutter styles – whether the project is in the line of Brochures, Flyers, Advertising, Business Cards, Rack Cards, Letterheads, Logos, Custom Posters, Covers, or any other graphic creation. I offer original photographic services, restoration of old photographs, as well as On Location Photographic Services. My personal photography covers nature close-ups, landscapes, seascapes, still life, architecture, and animals of all kinds. I offer Custom Pastel Pet Portraits, Commission Services, Original Pastel Paintings and Acrylic Paintings. The paintings I create are from still life, nature, landscapes and seascapes, plein air. My favorite subject is, as you might have guessed, animals. I love photographing and painting animals and I take great joy in studying their beauty and their personalities. Looking into their eyes, I get to see their “essence” and then I can create my work so others can see and feel the same thing. I want the viewer to have a special feeling that will stay with them forever. I also believe in giving back: I donate pastel portraits to nonprofit clubs and agencies for use in raffles and auctions several times a year and I also offer photographic services to benefit nonprofit groups. I am also part of the "Main Street Hanover" & "Saturdays on Main Street" committees. Thank you for the time you’ve taken to get to know me and my work.
